廚師的英文怎麼說?

1.我的母親是個很棒的廚師。
（X）My mother is a very good cooker.
（O）My mother is a very good cook.

廚師的英文是cook，至於cooker則是炊具、烹調器具的意思。由於很多英文動詞加了「er」就會變成職業，如teach（教導）之於teacher（老師）、write（寫）之於writer（作家）等，所以我們很容易以為cook（烹調）加了「er」就是廚師。

 

如何回答職業?

通常人家問What's your name? 你會回答My name is....

問你Where are you from? 你回答I'm from .....

當問到你What's your job?時，或是 面試時有人問你Tell me about your job.

回答如下:

（X）My job is an engineer.
（X）My job is a teacher.
（X）My job is a product manager.

job 是一個「東西」，職位像engineer、teacher、secretary或是manager、director指的是「人」，應表達如下:

（O）I'm an engineer.
（O）I'm a teacher.
（O）I'm a product manager.

那想形容工作很忙? 

（X）My job is busy.
（X）Today is busy.
（X）Today's job is very busy.

很忙的是人不是工作，你可以說 I'm busy with work.

還有其他說法

I'm up to my neck in work. 忙到喘不過氣(工作都堆到脖子那麼高了)

I’m up to my eyes in paperwork this week.(堆到眼睛那麼高)
